Who are TBWC?
That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler of single malt Scotch whiskies as well as single grains, blended malts and even the odd blended whisky too.
They produce limited release batches from selected parcels of stock. Their range boasts whiskies from a variety of celebrated distilleries (including some closed distilleries). Each numbered bottle is adorned with a fantastic hand-illustrated label.
These comic book-style labels feature tales from the history of certain distilleries, famous individuals from the drinks industry or even scenes as clearly bonkers (but equally brilliant) as a velociraptor fighting a shark!.
Many of the bottles they realease are in small quantities. As such, many become quite rare and highly sought after, especially those from well known distilleries.
Case in point: Miltonduff
The Miltonduff distillery lives in the Speyside region, producing oodles of tasty whisky. A generous portion making its way into blends – with Ballantine’s featuring Miltonduff as one of its defining malts. For a short while during the latter half of the 1900s, Miltonduff housed a pair of Lomond stills. Whisky produced from these were was called Mosstowie. Less than 20 years later, the Lomond stills were decommissioned, making Mosstowie whisky rather rare indeed.
Now on their 4th batch, the Miltonduff 40 year old is an Incredibly well-matured single malt from the Miltonduff distillery. Here it was aged for 40 years before being bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! After four decades of slumber, this whisky has taken on a wealth of flavour and a richly dark hue. Mouthwatering stuff, this.
On the label for this Miltonduff, you can see Dick Beach, the MWP for Miltonduff, campaigning along with the Loch Ness Whisky Parliament.
